Obituary of Edward B. Schagrin

Edward B. Schagrin, of Media, PA, died at home of cancer on July 31, 2013. He was married to his wife, Carole, whom he completely adored and deeply loved. He was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Gertrude Schagrin. Mr. Schagrin was in the 209th graduating Class of Central High School in Philadelphia, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended Penn State University from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and a Master's of Science in Engineering. He received an MBA from Widener University. Mr. Schagrin worked for Boeing Corporation for more than 35 years, involved in the design of the Chinook helicopter, light and heavy rail vehicles, and the Osprey, among other projects. Early in his career, Mr. Schagrin was assigned to the Patuxent, Maryland Naval Air Station where he was then the youngest ever to teach at the air station. Mr. Schagrin was also a commission member, and secretary of the Chester Heights Planning Commission. He enjoyed traveling, reading history and science, crossword puzzles, his pets, and getting together with family and friends. SURVIVORS In addition to his beloved wife, Carole, his sister, Judy (Bruce) Sever, his Aunt Elaine Sworob, a family that loved him, as an Uncle Ed, many loving cousins, and a large number of endearing friends. Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers may be given in memory of Edward Schagrin to Penn State University, check written to Penn State, and mailed to 1 Old Main, University Park, PA 16802.
