Obituary of Elinor H. Snyder
Elinor H. (Haigh) Snyder, 93, of Wallingford, PA, and formerly of Roxborough, PA, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Elinor was born January 2, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Harry and Edith Stevens Haigh. She was named after a little girl her sister Jessie played with, by the name of Elinor Snyder. Elinor grew up in Roxborough, PA and was a graduate of Roxborough High School and Drexel University.
After her graduation from Drexel University, she went to work at West Chester University, as secretary to the president, then Phoenix Iron Works. Soon after that she began teaching high school in Phoenixville and Kennett Square, PA.
Elinor met the love of her life, Edward Snyder, and ironically became Elinor Snyder, sharing 61 years of marriage.
Elinor is a member of Ardmore Presbyterian Church. Feeling the Lord's leading, she began teaching a Wednesday morning Bible Study at the church. Due to her ability to reach out to others, her great story telling of life experiences and knowledge of the scriptures has helped the group to grow and relate to God's word.
Elinor and her husband loved to travel. She was a creative person and enjoyed handcrafts, especially beading and knitting. Elinor was also a great baker and candy maker. She was an avid reader and that assisted her with leading the Wednesday morning bible study.
